They are widely used in pharmaceutical, chemical and automobile industries. The stainless steel 904L round bars are a type of high-temperature and corrosive stainless steel.
They are made of austenitic steel, and they provide good resistance against rust and chemical attack. They contain chromium, nickel, molybdenum, copper, sulphur, and manganese that are combined to give them high resistance to acids, chlorides, and other unfavourable environments. These bars leave a layer of thin chromium oxide on the surface and serve as a protection barrier. As opposed to carbon steel, which rusts every time it comes into contact with moisture, 904L is not vulnerable to rust, as it has a higher concentration of chromium.
The gas turbine components and pulp and paper industry, among others, also use these bars. They are very easy to weld since they do not require pre-heating or post-welding; they have low carbon content and are available in standard lengths of 2000 mm to 6000 mm and can furthermore be cut to any desired size when necessary.
